Overgroups of regular unipotent elements in simple algebraic groups

Abstract: We consider the question of determining reductive overgroups of regular unipotent elements in simple algebraic groups and in particular give a condition which guarantees that the overgroup does not lie in a proper parabolic subgroup of the ambient simple group. This is joint work with Gunter Malle, and follows on work of Suprunenko, Saxl and Seitz, and Testerman and Zalesski.
